Ekaya Productions Lda was founded in 2005 by musician, producer and ethnomusicologist João Carlos Schwalbach.

João Carlos Schwalbach, pianist, composer, arranger and producer, was born in Maputo - Mozambique. Started his piano studies at the age of 7 at the National Music School in Maputo for a couple of years. Then, he was self-taught until he went to study at the prestigious music department at UNICAMP (Universidade Estadual de Campinas) in São Paulo - Brazil, where he graduated in Popular Music in 1999. In 2002, João Carlos Schwalbach completed his masters degree in Ethnomusicology at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) - University of London in the United Kingdom. Apart from his solo career (projects: DESPERTAR, VIAJENS, 100 PALAVRAS, FORTALEZA amongst others), Joao Carlos Schwalbach is a member of Mozambique's legendary group Ghorwane since 1993 (www.ghorwane.com) and participates in many other projects as a pianist/keyboardist/producer/programmer both with national and international artists. João Carlos Schwalbach is the founder of Ekaya Productions Lda, a well established company in the region working in many different areas in the industry: Recording Studio,  Audio Post-Production, Film Scores/Sound Tracks/Sound Design, Jingles, Concert Production, Music Distribution. João is also the founder of independent record label ManInGroove.
