Ekaya is more than a recording studio...located in the heart of Maputo!!!

 Ekaya Productions Lda was founded in 2005 by musician, producer and ethnomusicologist Joni Schwalbach.

Ekaya is more than a recording studio. It is a boutique production facility located in the heart of Maputo’s Sommerschield district. Opened since 2005 by it’s founder João Carlos Schwalbach aka Joni.

During the past decade, Ekaya has gained the respect of the industry both in Mozambique and abroad.

Although Ekaya’s focus is in audio production, our spectrum of services range from music & video production to marketing & advertising.

Our studios were carefully equipped, and are constantly upgraded, with the latest hardware and software to ensure the best results at a competitive rate. Years of careful selection and acquisition of all the components in the studios grants high end professional results.

We keep on updating our studios with the best analog & digital gear and the best plugins and virtual instruments on the market to ensure that our productions sound good!!!

Ekaya produces small and medium size events. For bigger events we partnership with our sister company Maningue Productions Lda.

If you think you have the voice and talent to record professional voice-overs for radio, TV and other media please contact and us and book for a free studio session. We will record you and test you potential and work with you to take you to the next level. Our coaches will train you and guide you all the way to up to to big jobs for the top brands and corporations.

Jaques Morelembaum

Rio-born cellist, arranger, producer, conductor and composer, Jaques Morelenbaum has spent 40+ years expanding the cello’s possibilities. A NEC alum, he has shared stages and studios with Tom Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Egberto Gismonti, Gal Costa, Milton Nascimento, Chico Buarque, Leonard Bernstein, Mitslav Rostropovich, Sadao Watanabe, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Sting, David Byrne, Chris Botti, Omar Sosa, Cesária Évora and many more. His work earned a Grammy (Caetano’s “Livro”) and two Latin Grammys (“Noites do Norte”; Julieta Venegas). His film scores include “Central Station” and “Nise.” A longtime collaborator—10 years with Jobim, 14 with Caetano, and decades with Sakamoto—he now leads CelloSam3aTrio.

Pianist, composer, producer, and educator Pablo Lapidusas has spent three decades building a career that defies easy categorization. Born in Argentina, raised in Brazil, and based in Portugal, he is a global artist whose music reflects a unique synthesis of cultural and stylistic influences. Pablo is a restless musician, constantly redefining his interpretative possibilities. His collaborations testify to his versatility and the admiration he commands worldwide.
